Aim
İLEF Dergisi is a peer-reviewed journal in the field of communication research and media studies. It seeks to reflect the variety of intellectual traditions and multidisciplinary approaches to provide a free and critical platform for scholars. It is an open access journal, published biannually both in printed and on-line versions by Faculty of Communication at Ankara University; the oldest institute in the field of communication in Turkey and in the surrounding region.
Scope
İLEF Dergisi encourages contributions in areas such as the conjunctions of class, gender, ethnicity and sexuality in audiovisual culture, conventional and new medias, histories and theories of journalism, film, television, video, and digital media; and politically engaged approaches to a range of media practices.
Submited articles are processed with double-blind peer review.
We do not charge any submission or publication fees.
Ilef Dergisi is indexed in Clarivate Analytics, ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index) and ULAKBIM, TR Index, it is also listed in Doaj (Directory of Open Access Journals).

Editorial Responsibilities
The Editors are accountable for everything they publish and have sole responsibility for the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript. They may confer with reviewers or editorial board members when making publication decisions. Articles are considered and accepted on their academic merit.
The editors and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers and the publisher, as appropriate.
Unbiased consideration should be given to each manuscript, judging each on its merits without regard to the race, religion, nationality, sex, political philosophy, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the author.
Submissions from authors with whom the editors have a conflict of interest will be assessed by a member of the Editorial Board. Submissions by members of the Editorial Board will be assigned to an Associate or Guest Editor to ensure a fair and appropriate process.
At least one reviewer for each manuscript should be in no relation with Faculty of Communication. Faculty of Communication members should not review submissions by associate faculty members.
Publisher Responsibilities
ILEF Dergisi is published by Faculty of Communication, Ankara University (ILEF). On Behalf of ILEF, The Faculty Dean is the owner and executive editor of ILEF Dergisi. The Journal’s editorial board is comprised of members biannually proposed by each department under Faculty of Communication.
The relationship between the ILEF Dergisi editors and the publisher Faculty of Communication, Ankara University is firmly based on the principle of editorial independence.
Faculty of Communication, Ankara University protects the intellectual copyright of ILEF Dergisi, its imprints, authors and publishing partners by promoting, and maintaining each article’s published version of record.
Readers are free to share; copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format or adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material with giving appropriate credit. However ILEF Dergisi materials may not be used for commercial purposes and they may not be subject to any legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

Plagiarism Policy
The submitted manuscripts should comply with Chicago Style Citation format (16th edition, http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html) Notes and Bibliography system. The in-text notes and citations should be indicated with numbered endnotes. The first citation of a source should be indicated with full reference record, while shortened versions are to be used for the following references to the same source.
